I decided we needed a more 'text rich' childminding environment so we made this name tree.  It's the tube from a finished roll of clingfilm/tin foil with very short pencils pushed in to it.  The base was part of the box from a box of chocolates and I just used tape to stick it on.  The name cards are pieces of thick card with single corkscrew holes in them and short pieces of string threaded through and tied to make the loops.  In permanent marker pen, I wrote our names, our kids' names and my child-minded kids' names so there are plenty of names to learn and people to 'sign in' and 'sign out.'
